MEET DR. KARP
Leah Lau Karp, DPT has been a licensed Physical Therapist since 2017 and is the founder of Physio Wellness HI. Dr. Karp is known for providing results-oriented treatments with highly specialized physical therapy interventions and associated alternative medicine. She has a strong belief in a multidisciplinary approach to support all aspects of health and healing.
As a physical therapy student at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY, she was introduced to Functional Manual Therapy (FMT), a treatment paradigm that focuses on optimizing mechanical capacity, neuromuscular re-education, and motor control systems. Leah's philosophy affirms that everyone has untapped and unlimited potential. Dr. Karp is one of roughly 300 Certified Functional Manual Therapists (CFMT) in the world and the only CFMT currently residing in Hawaii. Soon after entering clinical practice, Dr. Karp began to dive deeper into complex and multifactorial conditions, specializing in conditions such as Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Connective Tissue Disorders, Traumatic injuries, and Orthopedic Injuries. Please see the services page for a more detailed overview.
Originally from Honolulu, Dr. Karp returned to the islands in 2020 to be closer to family. Once home, it became clear that Hawaii lacked the comprehensive and data-driven therapies needed to support the body’s natural ability to heal. It is her personal goal to advance education and promote access to integrative health services. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two chocolate Labradors, attending continuing education conferences, and traveling.

"Every person has 'untapped and unlimited potential.'"
